Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
I laureati in Tecniche di laboratorio biomedico avranno acquisito: le basi scientifiche e la preparazione teorico-pratica necessarie per essere abilitati all'esercizio della professione di Tecnico sanitario di laboratorio biomedico; la metodologia e cultura necessarie per la pratica della formazione permanente; un livello di autonomia professionale, decisionale ed operativa tale da garantire la padronanza di tutte le necessarie competenze e la loro immediata spendibilità nell'ambiente di lavoro.
Particolare attenzione sarà prestata alle condizioni di attività professionali anche con strumenti meno complessi, considerata la peculiarità delle aree nelle quali si troveranno non di rado a fornire la propria opera, caratterizzate da numerose emergenze, anche belliche, con scarsa densità di personale sanitario e di materiali in linea con gli standard occidentali più avanzati.
Questi risultati saranno conseguiti con la frequenza obbligatoria a lezioni, attività seminariali, esercitazioni, tirocini e corsi opzionali.
La valutazione di tali conoscenze e delle capacità di comprensione sarà attuata attraverso esami, verifiche in itinere e prove di idoneità sia per gli insegnamenti teorici che per i tirocini, oltre che per la prova finale.Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione
I laureati in Tecniche di laboratorio biomedico saranno in grado di: scegliere e utilizzare le metodologie e la strumentazione di laboratorio per l'acquisizione di dati clinici e sperimentali; provvedere alla loro analisi, validazione e interpretazione; discutere i risultati ottenuti, proporre soluzioni per l'ottimizzazione delle metodologie e documentare le procedure impiegate; svolgere le attività nel pieno rispetto delle norme di sicurezza per l'uso di sostanze, apparecchi e procedure.
Strumenti fondamentali per il raggiungimento di tali obiettivi saranno tirocinio, attività di laboratorio, ricerca bibliografica e utilizzo di testi.
La valutazione di queste abilità avverrà con verifiche del tirocinio, esami e prova finale.Autonomia di giudizio

L'autonomia di giudizio dei laureati si esprimerà con la capacità di valutare autonomamente le criticità legate alle analisi chimico cliniche e sperimentali svolte e di scegliere metodologie, strategie e apparecchiature ottimali per i risultati attesi, anche grazie alla revisione critica delle informazioni reperite con ricerche bibliografiche.
La maturazione di tali capacità avverrà e sarà verificata durante i tirocini, nei quali l'incontro con persone, professionalità, strutture e metodologie diverse faciliterà lo sviluppo di un pensiero critico autonomo.
Uguale rilevanza assumeranno la partecipazione attiva alle lezioni, la preparazione degli esami e della prova finale, ulteriori momenti di maturazione e di verifica.
Abilità comunicative

I laureati saranno capaci di comunicare idee, informazioni, problemi e soluzioni di tipo scientifico in forma orale o scritta nel contesto professionale.
Saranno in grado di interagire con le altre persone per condurre attività di équipe, di redigere relazioni e presentazioni anche con l'ausilio di mezzi multimediali, di contribuire alla formazione e all'aggiornamento di altro personale.
Queste abilità saranno sviluppate grazie alla frequenza di una pluralità di laboratori, nella preparazione degli esami tra cui, in particolare, quello del corso di scienze umane.
Tutte le abilità saranno supportate dalle conoscenze di tipo informatico acquisite nei corsi specifici.
La verifica avverrà tramite gli esami, anche di tirocinio, e la prova finale.
Capacità di apprendimento
Descrittore di Dublino 5 - learning skills
I laureati acquisiranno le capacità di apprendimento e le competenze tali da consentire il proseguimento degli studi sia nei corsi di laurea specialistica, che in corsi di aggiornamento e approfondimento, con un alto grado di autonomia.
Saranno in grado di aggiornare in modo autonomo le proprie competenze rispetto alle innovazioni tecnologiche e scientifiche nell'ottica dell'attività lavorativa.
Questa capacità saranno sviluppate e verificate con la preparazione degli esami, con la frequenza del tirocinio, nel quale viene coniugata la teoria con la pratica di laboratorio, con l'uso critico della bibliografia anche per la preparazione della prova finale.
Requisiti di ammissione
Possono essere ammessi al Corso di laurea i candidati che siano in possesso di diploma di scuola secondaria superiore o di altro titolo di studio conseguito all’estero riconosciuto idoneo dalla normativa vigente.
La prova di ammissione è predisposta annualmente dall’Ateneo secondo le modalità e la tempistica indicate dagli organi competenti nel rispetto delle normative vigenti.
E' altresì richiesto il possesso o l'acquisizione di un'adeguata preparazione iniziale.
I regolamenti didattici dei corsi di laurea definiscono le conoscenze richieste per l’accesso e ne determinano le modalità di verifica.
Se dalla verifica non risulta il possesso di un livello sufficiente di preparazione, possono essere indicati specifici obblighi formativi aggiuntivi da soddisfare nel primo anno di corso attraverso l’istituzione di attività formative integrative.
Le attività formative propedeutiche ed integrative possono essere svolte anche in collaborazione con istituti di istruzione secondaria o con altri enti pubblici o privati, sulla base di apposite convenzioni.
Prova finale
L'Esame finale del Corso di Laurea ha valore di Esame di Stato abilitante all'esercizio della professione e si compone di:

Una prova pratica nel corso della quale lo studente deve dimostrare di aver acquisito le conoscenze e abilità teorico-pratiche e tecnico-operative proprie dello specifico profilo professionale;
c.
Redazione di un elaborato di una tesi e sua dissertazione.
Si svolge nei periodi e nei modi prescritti da apposito decreto del Ministero della Università e della Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica di concerto con il Ministero della Salute.
A determinare il voto di laurea, espresso in centodecimi, contribuiscono i seguenti parametri:
a) la media dei voti conseguiti negli esami curriculari espressa in centodecimi,
b) i punti attribuiti dalla Commissione dell'esame finale in sede di discussione (massimo 5 punti),
c) il punteggio conseguito nella prova pratica (massimo 6 punti).
La lode può essere attribuita per parere unanime della Commissione ai Candidati che conseguono il punteggio finale di 110/110.
I docenti relatori di tesi sono professori di prima o seconda fascia o ricercatori o professori a contratto.
Le attività formative per la preparazione della prova finale si svolgeranno nelle strutture indicate in merito alle attività professionalizzanti.Orientamento in ingresso
L'Admission Office si occupa di organizzare attività dedicate a studenti italiani e stranieri delle scuole superiori, con lo scopo di far conoscere l'offerta didattica e il modello formativo dell'università.
Le attività di orientamento coinvolgono docenti del Corso di Laurea, professionisti, personale di staff dedicato e studenti del Corso di Laurea.
Ad inizio anno accademico l'ufficio di competenza, in accordo con l'ufficio Comunicazione e Marketing, provvede a pianificare le date degli eventi di orientamento per tutto l'anno accademico.

I laureati in Tecniche di Laboratorio Biomedico sono gli operatori sanitari responsabili nelle strutture di laboratorio del corretto adempimento delle procedure analitiche e del loro operato, svolgono con autonomia tecnico professionale la propria prestazione lavorativa in diretta collaborazione con il personale laureato di laboratorio preposto alle diverse responsabilità operative di appartenenza.
Il corso di Laurea di primo livello in Tecniche di Laboratorio Biomedico (SNT/3-Classe delle Lauree in Professioni Sanitarie Tecniche) ha lo scopo di formare operatori sanitari a cui competono le attribuzioni del D.M.
del Ministero della Sanità, del 26 Settembre 1994, n.
745 e successive modificazioni ed integrazioni, e che devono essere dotati di:
-basi scientifiche e della preparazione teorico-pratica necessarie per essere abilitati all'esercizio della professione di Tecnico Sanitario di Laboratorio Biomedico e della metodologia e cultura necessarie per la pratica della formazione permanente, nonché di un livello di autonomia professionale, decisionale ed operativa derivante da una formazione teorica e pratica che includa anche l'acquisizione di competenze comportamentali e che venga conseguita nel medesimo contesto lavorativo specifico, così da garantire al termine del percorso formativo, la piena padronanza di tutte le necessarie competenze e la loro immediata spendibilità nell'ambiente lavorativo
-capacità di svolgere attività di laboratorio di analisi e di ricerca, relative ad analisi biomediche e biotecnologiche ed in particolare di biochimica, biochimica clinica, microbiologia e virologia, farmaco-tossicologia, immunologia, patologia clinica, ematologia, citologia e istopatologia, genetica medica, medicina trasfusionale.
-capacità a controllare e verificare il corretto funzionamento delle apparecchiature utilizzate
- capacità di adempire correttamente alle procedure analitiche e del proprio operato, nell'ambito delle proprie funzioni in applicazione dei protocolli di lavoro.

L’obiettivo è quello di formare dei neolaureati con elevate conoscenze teoriche e pratiche delle metodologie innovative, tali da renderli più attrattivi in specifici ambiti lavorativi.
Il laureato potrà accedere a percorsi di formazione avanzata, master di primo livello e lauree magistrali, come da bandi.
I laureati in Tecniche di Laboratorio Biomedico, possono trovare occupazione sia in regime di dipendenza in strutture di laboratorio pubbliche (Aziende Ospedaliere, Policlinici Universitari, Istituti a carattere di ricerca, Istituti Zooprofilattici ed altro) o private (laboratori di analisi privati ed altro) che in regime libero professionale.
Lo studente espliciterà le proprie scelte al momento della presentazione,
tramite il sistema informativo di ateneo, del piano di completamento o del piano di studio individuale,

Mathematics, physics and information technology

The Medical Statistics course aims to provide students with the basic notions of physics, statistics and computer science, the purpose of which is teaching the logic of statistical thinking and its application in real practice. The presentation of the topics will be oriented to concrete problems of analysis and research, starting from schematic examples and then confronting real situations taken from the medical literature. The aim of the integrated course of Mathematical, Physical and Computer Science (Medical Physics, Medical Statistics and Computer Science) is to provide students with the knowledge on the foundations of applied physics necessary for the performance of their future activity, the principles of information technology and the principles of physical, applied to their professional profile. In particular, the understanding of the physical principles underlying medical physics and the functioning of medical instrumentation will be addressed.
At the end of the course, students will know the fundamental concepts of application of the scientific method to the study of biomedical phenomena (choice and measurement of parameters, evaluation of errors), they will be able to describe the physical phenomena of complex systems using appropriate mathematical tools, they will know the scientific bases of medical procedures and the operating principles of the equipment commonly used for diagnostics and therapy, as well as to provide the student with the skills necessary to understand the key role that Information Technology (IT) plays for today's society and, in in particular, within the technical-health professions.

The Applied Physics module provides the basic knowledge of the principles of Physics necessary for understanding the functioning of the main systems that make up the human body and for the use of biomedical instrumentation, with particular attention to applications of interest for the degree course. Medical statistics

The Medical Statistics course aims to introduce students to the logic of statistical thinking and its application in everyday life. The exposition of the topics will be oriented towards concrete problems of analysis and research, starting from schematic examples and then confronting real situations taken from the medical literature. Descriptive Statistics:
the student should be able to : -understand the notion of sampling in relation to defined population and the importance of sample size, understand the notions of distribution, variabillity, mean and median values , confidence intervals ans to prodcue tables and figures based onknowing the various types of diagrams ( whisker plots, box plots),know the eror types in measurements , selction critieria . Furthermore should he be able to use the different types of variables and know their simple classification
Analytical Statistics
The student should know the difference between relative risks and odds ratio, know how to use parametric and non-parametric Student test and the Kruskal Wallis , Mann-Withney tests .He should also know about the existenc of the main medical statitsitcs softwares :SPSS, SAS, R etc.
Statistical Inference
The student should know the meaning of a Gaussian dsitribution and be able to interpretate confidence intervals, standard deviations, standard errors and know as well the concepts of regression and correlation
Diagnostic Accuracy
The student should be able to calculate the sensitivity, specificity, predictive negative and positive values and other measures of accuracy of laboratory tests, also in relation to reference samples . Further should he/she be able to differentiate between pre -and post-test probability and interpretate the significance of ROC curves as well as indentify the different types of bias in tests , the orgin of reference values and the concept of normality and understand the difference between early diagnosis and screening. Finally he /she should know the way to measure the diagnostic test reliability ( Cohens K value, Bland-Altmann plot)
Information Sources and Critical Reading Capacity
The sudent should be able to identify reliable sources of statistical information and present a statistical chapter from a relevant scientific paper

The Histology module aims to provide student with the skills necessary for the full understanding of the most important tissues of the human organism. The student must be able to acquire a correct terminology and develop skills of interpretation and application that, the graduate in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, will have to use in the planning and management of work activities.
The Biology module aims at providing the students with the morphological and functional organization of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, focusing on both the descriptive aspects and the basic notions of biochemistry and cellular physiology required to understand the functions of the cell as a basic unit of living organisms. The objective of the course is the learning of the constructive logic of the biological structures at the different levels of organization of living matter, the principles that govern the functioning of the different biological systems, the learning of the experimental method and its applications to the study of biological phenomena. Students will learn the unitary mechanisms that regulate cellular activities, gene expression and genetic material transmission.
The Anatomy module provides the student with the anatomical knowledge from a basic macroscopic point of view to understand the general organization of the human body. The aim of the integrated teaching of BIOCHEMISTRY, PHYSIOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge relating to the structure of the macromolecules necessary for the functioning and regulation of living organisms and their transformation processes. Put the student in a position to understand the basics of cellular metabolism and the variations induced by exercise. The module also intends to provide the student with the fundamental knowledge relating to the basic concepts of chemistry, the structure of macromolecules underlying the metabolic processes necessary for the functioning and regulation of living organisms: carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids. To enable the student to understand the basics of cellular metabolism. The cellular mechanisms and integrated functions of the main organs and systems aimed at maintaining body homeostasis in the context of changes in the environment will also be analyzed. The aim of the teaching is to provide the knowledge of the fundamental physiological mechanisms of human functions. The course includes the acquisition of knowledge on the operating principles of the organs that compose the human body, and their dynamic integration into apparatuses and systems for maintaining body homeostasis in the context of changes in the environment. The course will allow to acquire the ability to independently apply the knowledge of organ and system functioning mechanisms to situations of potential functional alteration. At this regard, the students will also need to know the main indicators and normal parameters of human physiological functions, and the related measurement methods. These objectives will be achieved through lectures, seminars and interactive teaching activities, aimed at facilitating learning and improving the ability to solve simple physiological problems.

Essential objectives of the course are to learn the classification and taxonomy of the main bacteria, viruses, protozoa and fungi of human interest and diseases related to infections. For the course of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology, knowledge of traditional and innovative methodologies used in the laboratory for the determination of different proteins in the clinical biochemistry laboratory are essential objectives. These objectives will be achieved through lectures and with interactive teaching activities, associated with facilitating learning and improving the ability to face and solve the main diagnostic questions of the clinical biochemistry laboratory. The course aims to provide the student with the skills necessary to understand the role played by information systems and database management systems, illustrating the development process. It is an essential goal of the Statistics course for Experimental research to learn the knowledge of the essential elements for the interpretation of the accuracy and predictive values of a diagnostic test. This course will also deal with issues relating to the comparison of tests and the fundamental aspects of study designs for biomedical research for diagnostics. These objectives will be achieved through lectures and practical examples illustrating the methodology of some scientific studies published in the medical literature. Knowledge of the methods for selecting and managing independently the analytical processes for the various analysis techniques, applying laboratory safety principles and biomedical laboratory activities as an entity represent internal health system. The main educational objectives of the clinical biochemistry course are acquired by the student of basic knowledge on the clinical-diagnostic significance of some of the laboratory tests that control the "chemical-clinical profile". These objectives will be achieved through lectures and with interactive teaching activities, associated with facilitating learning and improving the ability to face and solve the main diagnostic questions of the clinical biochemistry laboratory. At the end of the course, students will know the fundamental concepts of the application of the scientific method to the study of biomedical phenomena, the scientific bases of medical procedures and the principles of operation of the equipment used for diagnostics and therapy, as well as supplying the student with the skills provided understanding the key role that Information Technology (IT) plays for today's society and, in particular, required by the technical-health professions.

Elements of autopsy, cytopathological, histological diagnostics, autopsy techniques

The student will be able (i) to know the basic macroscopic and optical microscopic anatomical lesions of the main pathologies of the various apparatus and (ii) to understand the role of histological, immunohistochemical and molecular biology investigations in the anatomopathological diagnostic process both in the care diagnostic workflow and in the realization and drafting of basic and applied research projects. Essential objectives • the acquisition of basic knowledge of the histopathological characteristics of the main pathologies of the various apparatuses (hemolympopoietic, lungs, breast, thyroid, oesophagus, stomach, intestine, liver, kidneys, bladder, prostate, testicles, cervix, uterus and ovary). • the acquisition of basic knowledge for performing immunohistochemical reactions • the acquisition of basic notions for the use of the main antibodies for immunohistochemical reactions • the acquisition of basic notions for the use of the main detection systems and chromogens in immunohistochemistry • the acquisition of basic knowledge about the use of the main antibodies used in the pathological diagnostics
The acquisition of the following basic knowledge is an essential objective: • to evaluate the correct preparation of a cytological samples; • the criteria used in analyzing cytological samples under the microscope; • the morphological characteristics of normal, reactive, atypical, dysplastic and neoplastic cells; • to recognize under the microscope normal and pathological human cells, both in diagnostic and care processes and in the execution and drafting of basic and applied research projects.
Essential objectives • The acquisition of knowledge of the autopsy technique • Acquisition of basic knowledge of the main macroscopic alterations of organs detectable at autopsy examination.
The module aims to provide the basic knowledge of "AUTOPSY AND CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS " and " ELEMENTS OF DIGITAL PATHOLOGY" to the students. In "AUTOPSY AND CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS " are essential objectives: the acquisition of the knowledge of the definition, history and purpose of the autopsy, the knowledge of the autopsy as a tool for clinical control, the knowledge of the autopsy as a risk management tool, the knowledge of the autopsy as a tool for improving the quality of clinical-assistance pathways, the knowledge of the safety procedures to be adopted during autopsy investigation, the knowledge of the general rules of biosafety in the autopsy room, the knowledge of the value of the autopsy report, the knowledge of post-mortem phenomena. In " ELEMENTS OF DIGITAL PATHOLOGY" are essential objectives: the acquisition of the knowledge of the "Digital Slide" and the Technologies for the digitalization of histological slides; the acquisition of the knowledge of the role of Digital Pathology; the acquisition of the knowledge of Telepathology; the acquisition of the knowledge of privacy and data management.

Students will need to know the predisposing conditions and the clinical characteristics of the various neoplastic diseases, prognostic and predictive factors related both to the neoplasm and to the patient, hematopoietic and lymphoid system and its physiopathological disorders. Moreover, students are asked to know the main laboratory analysis systems, the cellular isolation methods, standard molecular biology techniques commonly used in the oncohematological, how to store hematological samples, how to apply diagnostic technologies required for diagnostic and prognostic assessment of hematological patients. Medical oncology
(objectives)
Students will need to know the predisposing conditions and the clinical characteristics of the various neoplastic diseases, tumor markers and molecules that might help to define diagnostic procedures. The knowledge of prognostic and predictive factors linked to the characteristics related to the neoplasm and to the patient, will help to understand the strategy for the management of different tumors, taking into account the therapeutic options available in the various phases of the disease and their side effects in a risk/benefit assessment perspective in order to achieve useful skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. These objectives will be achieved through lectures aimed at improving the ability to address and resolve the main issues of Oncology.

The main objectives of the course are the understanding of: • hematopoietic and lymphoid system and its physiopathological disorders; • the main laboratory analysis systems; • cellular isolation methods; • standard molecular biology techniques commonly used in the oncohematological field; • correct and efficient storage of hematological samples; • how to apply diagnostic technologies needed to help the assessment of the diagnosis and prognosis of hematological patients These objectives will be achieved through test in itinere and lectures.
