(objectives)
Aim of the Teaching is to: • provide students with knowledge on the theoretical principles needed for care planning and provide a solution to basic care problems. • Being able to perform the collection of excretions and secretions and provide adequate care to the patient in the diagnostic phase. • demonstrate knowledge of the main nursing theories and apply the principles to nursing care.

• Excretory functions • diuresis and diuresis disorders; urine alteration. Urine tests: urine collection for chemical and cultural examination and 24-hour urine collection, urine test strip • temporary and permanent bladder catheterization, bladder lavage, bladder irrigation. • bowel evacuation disorders, stool analysis, enema, manual evacuation. Stool tests: rectal swab, stool culture, fecal occult blood test • sputum: description and interpretation. Positioning for postural drainage. • perspiration: description and interpretation, nursing care for diaphoretic patient • vomiting: pathophysiology, pathogenesis, observation of vomiting, nursing care for vomiting patient • disinfectants and antiseptics • drugs and controlled substances: types of drugs, pharmacological preparations and absorption methods, nurse's responsibility in the preparation, administration and evaluation of pharmacological therapy. Routes of administration: intravenous, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, oral, sublingual, topical, anal, vaginal, mucous. • nursing responsibilities in drug storage and control • pain: assessment, pain management
