- To prepare students for interaction in English with various subjects in their professional field and to raise their awareness of ethical issues. - To enhance student's communication skills, in order to prepare them for written and oral professional interaction in English from a linguistic and communicative point of view. - To familiarize students with typical legal issues arising from globalisation facilitating their mobilisation. - To introduce students to medical ethics codes and medical associations. - To stimulate students to interact, present and discuss specific histology topics.

The syllabus is structured around the thematic sections listed below. Each section focuses on the analysis of different types of written and oral texts taken, adapted and simplified from original documents. Each unit includes sections dedicated to grammar practice and vocabulary building, as well as exercises aimed at developing the students’ four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) in a systematic and integrated way. The communicative approach envisages constant and active participation of students in classroom activities. Thematic sections: 1. Doctor-Patient communication 2. Informed consent 3. Verbal and non-verbal communication 4. Working with interpreters, mediators and foreign patients 5. Job interview as a communicative event 6. Trade fairs and conferences 7. Each group will conduct bibliographic research on biomedical databases, will elaborate the results of these researches through the creation of a PowerPoint, which will finally be presented to the teacher and the rest of the class.
